Spin Your Meter Backward

The 'Net Metering Law' recently passed in California, and many other states, requires local utilities to credit you for the electricity you generate with your solar electric system. When you produce more electricity than you are using, your system automatically spins your electric meter in reverse. Effectively, they buy electricity from you at the same rate they sell it to you (up to the amount you use).

Cash Rebates and Tax Credits

The State of California is currently offering a per watt cash rebate for utility-tied Solar Electric and Wind Powered Systems. California also offers a tax credit for up to $2,000 and an exemption from property tax on Solar Systems. If you have a home office, or you would like a system for your business location, there are additional incentives, including a Federal Tax Credit, and Accelerated Depreciation.
